Small Works Art Gallery is a community-based mini-gallery for the free exchange
of visual artwork in Kansas City, Missouri.

Explore the work of local and regional artists ranging from students, professional artists, and makers.

The mission of Small Works Art Gallery is to make more art accessible to more people - where creative exchange happens by and for the community, one small piece at a time. Creative expression, community access, and social exchange are the focus. In addition, SWAG aims to forge opportunities for creatives to make work and exhibit it within the community in new ways.

We envision additional FLAG locations within the region and that they will become community hubs for the free exchange of art and creativity. The goal with this project is to inspire others to start a FLAG and in doing so, create a local network of mini-galleries.

SWAG is the public art project of visual artist Cheryl Gail. By bringing Kansas City it's first Free Little Art Gallery,  Ms. Gail encourages others to join the local FLAG movement.

In her art practice Cheryl is interested in how we find connections and communicate with one another, and how those relationships build and sustain our communities.

The original architectural design was created by Alyona Skripka, an artist and fabricator, based in Western Massachusetts. The design was initially created for Tiny Art 4 All FLAG project in Northampton, MA. For SWAG, we made some modifications to better suit the location.
